A chilled cup of Echigo koshi no happou junmai sake makes an excellent aperitif. The smooth, almost savoury sake has hints of herbs and saltiness in the aroma. Notes of rice, almond and coconut add a touch of sweetness to the flavour, and a slightly syrupy texture gives a rich mouthfeel.
